The Challenge
Informa Connect required a dedicated Enterprise Architect to lead and formalize architecture practices across multiple verticals. The goal was to embed strategic architecture governance, support transformation initiatives, and optimize the application landscape within a globally distributed organization.
Objectives
- Establish a consistent Enterprise Architecture Operating Model across the division
- Standardize architecture processes, principles, and governance frameworks
- Enhance application portfolio visibility and identify rationalization opportunities
- Support project delivery with end-to-end architecture leadership
- Strengthen cloud, security, and integration practices across teams and vendors
- Designed and implemented a TOGAF-aligned Architecture Operating Model, including principles, review boards, processes, and templates
- Created reusable EA deliverables and catalogues such as:
- Architecture Impact Assessments
- Solution Vision & Solution Design templates
- Architecture Design Decision Logs
- Technical Debt and Waiver Registers
- Worked closely with CISO, system integrators, and vendors to align security requirements
- Conducted discovery of the existing estate, built architecture models, and configured LeanIX for application portfolio management
- Facilitated capability mapping, application rationalization analysis, and cost reduction strategies
- Collaborated with global architects and product leads to drive solution design and secure gated approvals
- Supported multiple projects from business case through to implementation, providing strategic and technical leadership
- Oversaw cloud-first deployments across AWS and Azure platforms
